The 2012 UNFPA annual retreat held between 12-15 March, brought together 75 staff from the country office. Building on the retreat theme of last year, ‘Being the Best You Can Be’, the theme this year focused on ‘Making the Difference.’

Issues discussed included Ethics and Integrity, Team work, Organizational Performance, exploring Office Management Plans, and re-alignment of the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) with the new UNFPA Strategic Plan and its accompanying Business Plan.

The retreat programme adopted diverse methodologies which included case studies, teaming exercises, plenary presentations and discussions, question and answer sessions, physical demonstrations and buzz group discussions.

Also present were external facilitators whose impressive presentations enlightened staff about decision-making in life and career.

The UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Theophane Nikyema, was present as new staff took oath of allegiance to the UN. Staff who were voted best performers in project re-engineering, finance management and partnerships building, were recognized and received wards. Voting was by all staff based on guidelines, shared earlier by the retreat organizing committee.
