2013 marked many milestones for UNFPA:

The arrival of our new Country Representative Ms. Esperance Fundira, the official launch of two Gender Based Violence Shelters, the first-ever International Day to End Obstetric Fistula celebration, the youth debate and blogging competition on teenage pregnancy, the female condom campaign, the first Family Planning Stakeholders Meeting, and the skills lab equipment donation to midwifery schools.

As icing on the cake, UNFPA was honoured for its contribution to delivering as one UN by the UN Resident Coordinator's office under the following categories: the Maternal and Newborn Convergence Group, the Operations Management Team and the United Nations Communications Group. It was a good way to end the year.
