Resolutions made during the meeting with cultural leaders from the Lango sub region on the importance of family planning in harnessing the demographic dividend on Thursday 17 September 2020 at Magharita Hotel, Lira.
Cultural leaders in the Lango sub region have made a resolve to champion family planning as way of improving the quality of life of the communities. Under their umbrella body the Lango Cultural Foundation (LCF),the leaders made consensus that family planning is the key to ending maternal mortality, keeping girls in school, addressing teenage pregnancy and ending gender based violence in the region.

UNFPA Uganda Annual Report 2019: Accelerating the Promise, Delivering Rights
The ICPD25 Summit in Nairobi created unprecedented momentum to advance sexual reproductive health and rights. Against this background, UNFPA Uganda and its partners undertook interventions to support Uganda’s quest to invest in Human Capital Development as a key strategy to advance the country’s development aspirations as spelt out in the National Development Plan. In our implementation, we took deliberate effort to ensure that the various dimensions of Uganda’s demographic dynamics and diversity are integrated in planning and budgeting, while ensuring that the basic reproductive health needs and rights of people in humanitarian contexts are met, so that no one is left behind.
UNFPA Uganda Humanitarian Situation Report June 2020 - Issue No.6
According to the UNFPA Uganda June 2020 humanitarian situation report, in the month of June, a total of 2,382 pregnant women were referred for emergency obstetric care through strengthened ambulance system compared to 1,517 in April.
Uganda Family Planning Atlas
The Family Planning Atlas provides an overview of factors associated with family planning use as well as trends in the indicators. The Atlas also provides a pictorial presentation of the family planning situation in Uganda, highlighting inequalities in utilization and service delivery. This information is useful in informing policy advocacy as well as programming interventions.

CERF rapid response to landslides and flood survivors in Bundibugyo, Bududa and Sironko districts
From September 2019, several districts in Uganda experienced flash floods and landslides due to heavy rains. Continuing through the end of the year, the most affected were Sironko and Bududa districts in Eastern Uganda and Bundibugyo district in Western Uganda. At least 38 people were reported dead and over 150 injured.
