Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe, Uganda

The Regional Offices of UNFPA, UNAIDS, UNICEF and WHO are finalising a four-year Joint UN Regional Programme to Strengthen Integrated Sexual and Reproductive and Rights (SRHR)/HIV and Sexual and Gender based Violence (SGBV) in East and Southern Africa (ESAR) to Accelerate Action on the SDG 3 and 5 with the Embassy of Sweden.

The goal of this Joint UN Regional Programme (2018 – 2021) is to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights of all people in East and Southern Africa, particularly adolescent girls, young people and key populations. The Programme combines the collective strengths of the participating United Nations agencies to strengthen regional guidance, technical assistance and to provide catalytic support to governments to scale up the provision of quality integrated SRHR/HIV and SGBV services in five countries: Lesotho, Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Zambia. The initiative is an opportunity to realize the collective efforts of the UN agencies to “deliver as one”.

Country teams are required to develop detailed country proposals, budgets and year one-year work plans. To facilitate this process a Regional Planning Meeting  will be held from October 30 to 31 2017. The two- day event aims to orient participating country teams on the Joint UN Regional Programme on SRHR/HIV and SGBV. Participating countries will also have a platform to share their thinking around the development of the Joint UN Programme, refine their proposals and identify next steps and action points.
